Sharing the Love!
Just a few more happy horse owners, helped by Steve...

Sally and Steve

The last two days were intense. No chance of going home wondering if we could have done more with our time. Great return on investment. It was great not to just learn the “tools”, but to understand the reason why they work.

Why has no-one ever told me of the impact of lowering the horses head???

I left on a high, with renewed enthusiasm for, and appreciation of horsemanship. I was ecstatic with the way Riley performed – he listened and tried all weekend. I will certainly be coming to more clinics, and (my wife) is keen to come too...

We can’t make your Queens Birthday weekend clinic, but please add us to your e-mail list and let us know about other clinics are planned. I’m so keen to apply what I have learnt with Riley and Paddy, and then consolidate that with another clinic.

Hi Sally and Steve,
Well, what can I say? What a fantastic weekend!!  We learned so much in such a short time.

So often we think we are the only ones struggling with our horses (and ourselves) when in fact there are so many people out there in the same position.

Steve, you did a wonderful job of boosting confidences and finding that hidden horseman within us, for which we are grateful.

Personally I went away with a new found confidence in my own ability to achieve greater things with my girl and David is more determined to get a better relationship with Jack.

It was so interesting to sit on the sidelines and listen to what other people were saying.  Not one nasty comment (which I have come across at other clinics) it was all positive and  really constructive.

Sally,  you did an excellent job of organising and keeping things on track, so bloody hard to do!!  By the way,  David was really impressed the way you were helping Jude whilst riding your horse bareback on the last session of the day...

Thanks again guys,  really looking forward to the next clinic.

Hi Sally and Steve,
Just a note to say thanks again for a great weekend.  I enjoyed myself thoroughly, you guys, the people and spending time with the horses.  The three days really consolidated the lessons I've been having and I think I'm finally getting it!

You ran a well organised and fun 3 days and I know it takes a lot of effort.  Well done.
Much appreciated.

Cheers,  Amanda

Dear Sally and Steve,
I wanted to write to say a very big thankyou for putting on the clinic and for having me out there.

Despite the outpouring of emotion I had on the second day..... I absolutely thoroughly enjoyed myself.

It was wonderful to meet some great like minded people and see that everyone experiences challenges which for most (actually all...) can be worked through. It was also good to see that there are others like me that get pretty nervous in the saddle - it is nice to know that one is not alone.

You ran the clinic with the utmost professionalism and friendliness which having worked with Steve and knowing he is like this, I would have expected nothing less.
You both treat us - your clients very well which is an absolute true credit to yourselves..... and why we keep returning...

The equine dentistry demo blew me away!  I was absolutely in awe of Shannon's work and am going to try to book him this or next week ...
It was an amazing thing to see being done and I honestly couldn't wait to get my arm into your poor horses mouth!  An experience that I doubt will ever come along again...

Thankyou both very much for your support.  Sally I really appreciate your advice and care, given I had only met you 24 hrs early yet you were right there for me when needed.

Anyway, thank you again so very much - it was two of the best days I have had for a long time - lots of laughs a few tears but all involving something I really enjoy and that is spending time with a horse!

Many thanks and kindest regards,

Sharon and Cash.

Dear Sally and Steve,
Thank you so much for a great weekend!!!!!!!!
As always you can see how much effort you all go to with organising down to the smallest detail and it does make such a difference.
I have come away with so much more knowledge and feel so much more confident with my timeing and rope and stick handling, as you both said you can never stop learning when it comes to Natural Horsemanship...

I know that you, better than anyone Steve, knows just what Socks and I need to do to improve and... I trust you completely with what you think is best, and it sure did show in the second session with me and Socks as he was far more relaxed and happy to go anywhere in the arena I took him.

Well done on another fab weekend guys, you did so well and look forward to the next planned clinic and shared lesson each fortnight with Amanda.

cheers Lyn x x x x

Hi Steve and Sally,
Just wanted to say thanks again for a great weekend...I thought it all went very well and was extremely well organised.
Even the little things like allocating yards to everyone made things run so smoothly.
The only down side was the weather but there's not too much you can do about that!

I did go away thinking I have a LONG way to go but have some great ideas and tools to help along the way.
Being new to all this 'rope twirling' stuff (ha ha), it was really interesting to see the philosophies behind everything that is done.
I really appreciate all the help and advice.

Thanks again
Susan

Hi Sally and Steve,

Just want to say a huge Thank-you for
such a wonderful clinic you ran on the weekend.
I am still trying to come down from the
high I was on after yesterday!!

...Sally you did such a wonderful job at
further explaining to everyone what Steve was saying.
I know there were many times you answered
my questions by asking Steve to further explain things.

I'm sure I don't just speak for myself
when I say what a great clinic you provided
and that your professionalism and patience is just amazing!

Thanks again ...

Hi Sally and Steve,

Just a quick note to say a HUGE thanks for the clinic.
Cazy and I achieved sooooooooo much more than I could have ever hoped for!

I still can't get over that she stood still for ages!
And I can ride in a straight line without humping or nicking off!
Cazy is a different pony!

Since being at home she doesn't want to kill stuff so much! She seems to be happier in herself.
Thanks again for everything...

Kerrianne

Below are Quotes from the Vic Horse Forum... The Days BEFORE FaceBook!!

The following quotes were 'cut & pasted' from a public access horse forum:

Re: Floating Re-Educators

When I got my horse he was quite a bad man in the float and it got a bit hairy at times.

I used Steve Brinkworth and he had my horse loading himself into the float in no time at all. He also runs Natural Horsemanship clinics so his approach is 100% gentle to the horse which was a paramount concern for me.

...and I didn't need to get him back. It seems that whatever he does it lasts.

First Day Under Saddle

I am so proud of my baby boy (Andalusian Gelding) in the way he handled his first day under saddle.

He did not put a foot wrong and it seemed that he really enjoyed the experience.

Thanks to Steve Brinkworth who has done a fab job getting him to this stage.

Re: How do you feel when your good friend is leaving?

Q: Did you sort out all that floating business with Blaze?

A: Yes, I am using a professional...horsemanship man. He is coming out today (and will spend time with) Blaze teaching him, then will delivery Blaze to his new home.
This has put me at ease for I was really really concerned about the new people trying to load Blaze. I didn't want him getting hurt or them.

Response: That's fantasic, good work. I'm sure your NH dude will get him on with no problems at all.

Another Response: Yeh he is a legend. He will have Blaze sorted out in no time at all and then maybe Blaze will enjoy the float.

Q: Who are you using to sort the float issue out?

A: I used Steve Brinkworth... I have just heard back from Blazes new family...

Steve had Blaze self loading within 10 minutes (ABSOLUTELY AMAZING)

Response: He is quite amazing isnt he?
Good choice your horse will always be a good loader now

Yet another 'Conversation" snatched off the Vic Horse forum

RE: Forumites go to a clinic!

So over the long weekend, myself and some other forumites attended a 3 day clinic in Toolern Vale... Annnnnnnyway, was great to meet  (LOTS of other 'forumites') it made for a real forum gathering!!

Anyway, I had an absolute ball...I took my unbroken mare, who some of you may remember as the horse that ran away from home last year. Anyway, she exceeded my expectations (putting it midly) and was such a gem. She has never been out anywhere and handled it like an old pro! She is still there for breaking in (oops, I mean Starting), and I'm really excited to see how she goes...even though I miss her terribly already!! She is a special girl and we have come along way from the wild mare we got at the market 2 years ago.

Q: Who was the clinic with...?

A: The very brilliant Steve Brinkworth

RE: Behavioral Centres

I have decided that I will have to send one of my horses 'somewhere' as he has issues that I haven’t come across before and have no idea how to address.....
... I was wondering if anyone could recommend somewhere that works with horses & gets them over irrational fears without creating any more!

A:  I'd recommend sending horsie for a holiday to Steve Brinkworth

A: Another vote for Steve. Certainly explains things in a way that is easy to understand and makes such a difference to your relationship with your horse.

A: My horse wouldn't cross any water crossings.
Regular lessons from Steve Brinkworth and all fixed...
Def worth a call and private lessons means you can continue the training in his absence.
(don't get me wrong - his clinics are great too just private lessons means you can deal with all those niggly little issues one on one.)
